the less sure I am I want to go near a hospital for this birth.
I just want to stay home and chill, have the baby and call it a day. I hate hospitals and the first time some doc or nurse try to tell me what to do or touch me I may just leave anyway.
I would feel even more comfortable if my stupid platelets would come up...I am Vitamin C and D'ing it to death. I will add Vit K in about 2 weeks. If I had just had one good level headed birth junkie friend to come hang out I would be all good.

I wish home birth ladies would take insurance! I would love to give birth at home, though DH thinks otherwise, but I can't afford it, and would afraid to do it on my own.
I hope you find your happy medium.

I know!! I wish insurance companies would pay for homebirths too!!! I can have all my prenatal care, the birth and two postpartum visits for $1800!!!!! I just can't afford that out of pocket. You'd think insurance companies would allow that as an option considering it is far cheaper.

I had my first baby at 17, and a friend of mine (also 17) had her son 8 days before mine. I thought it was weird at the time, but she had her baby at home. Her mom kinda initiated that though I'm sure. I wonder if the lady that attended her birth is still 'in business' lol.

I personally would never have a baby at home, for me with each baby I have more pp bleeding (like running down my leg) so I certainly don't need that at home and I actually don't mind the hospital for a short while, but it's small and only 2 minutes from my house, so we're really lucky for being in a rural community.
But those things aside, I can totally see how for others it would be a good option. Do like the first timers do and make a birth plan. Hope you figure something out.

My birth plan would read something like "Do not touch me or talk to me, leave me alone and watch from the door."

Sounds like a good plan to me
barring anything horrible from happening, my only additional requests this time would be not have an IV started unless an emergency calls for it, and to wear my own clothes. Obviously something I wouldn't mind getting soiled or anything. AND no matter what happens I am NOT being induced. This city seems induction happy.

OK, I have said this once, I am going to say it again. You all need to move here. Our big insurance co pays for homebirths, birthcenter births, births on the side of the road. Our hospital/dr office allows for the "don't touch me, don't talk to me, watch from the door, no I am not changing clothes, no I am not getting an IV/Heplock" birthplan. This is what I do! The only problem you would have with my practice is they don't allow VBACs, but the homebirth lady does and the birth center does.
But you are afraid of bugs, right?

I freakin hate bugs....ughhhh. Yuck. And I'd have to transfer down there to somewhere close to a UPS hub.

I wanted to do a homebirth but dh was NOT down for that! I say you get those platelets up and "accidentally" go too fast that way you have to have him at home.

Our state does have a large number of large bugs. But you know what else we have? Doors and window screens. And shoes, if you really need to squish one.
What is the deal with the platelets? What does too low mean? Risk of bleeding?

Yeah, I suspect that my platelets were low with every baby I have ever had, cause I have always had bleeding issues at the birth. I bleed a lot. Only in the last 3-4 pregnancies have I KNOWN my platelets were low though. Reminds me to go take my Vit C now.....soon I will add Vit K. wheeee

Is vitamin K bad for you if you take it too long?

Your birth plan sounds just like mine and I stay home! LOL! I can't imagine having to go to the hospital - I'm sorry you are having to deal with it. Hey, I'm a total birth junkie - and I'm not too far from you....
