i had an interesting night last night. i might have told you all that i am trying to do genealogy to figure out info on my mother's birth family. i have become acquainted with a genealogist who has been helping me. last night she e-mailed me a picture that we are pretty certain is my mothers birth-mother! beyond that, she CALLED the surviving children of this lady and talked to them and it sounds like they are my aunts and uncle!!!!!! they are interested in meeting or talking to me, as i am them. this genealogist and i talked on the phone for about two hours last night - she telling me about the people she talked to on the phone and me telling her things about my mother to ask these people about. still have to do a bit of confirming to be sure but its way more info than i was able to fine.
i recently joined ancestry.com on a free 3 month trial basis and have been using it as a distraction while going through this last week of my friends life. it is something i have wanted to do for my mother for years -- learn more about her background. unfortunately, at the time my mother passed away, all this computer info was not available to her.
its pretty exciting. plus, i am trying to locate two girls that i knew as a child and it has certainly given me some solid info on them too.
