Ok so my "new" front load washer is a freaking joke seriously we have had more problems with it it's only around well its as old as ryder my dhs grandparents bought it for me when I had ryder, it is a affinity blah blah blah it SUCKs .... are first problem was when the hose clogged with a baby sock and it wouldn't drain that was in december it was 2months old, then in march it was clogged again with an adult sock in august it started eating my clothes like so bad tha the rubber front part had to be replaced in october luckily it was under warrenty so it was covered but now I it's not draining right and its leaking like a lot. grrr so I am now looking for another one I figured you girlies would be able to recommend a good one for lots of loads, I'm actually leaning towards a commercial speed queen if I can find one around here but if you all have other suggestions would love to hear them, I'm also kind of soured on the front loaders because mine was such a lemon. Dh just wants to buy a cheap top loader and if it breaks down in a year just buy another one

I am a fan of older second hand top loaders, made back in the day when stuff lasted. I have no experience with any newer washers/dryers as I just can't afford them.

I love my front loader. It's a whirlpool Duet. The cheapest model we could find. I wash cloth diapers in it almost every day and do BIG loads of clothes. I didn't think I would like it and thought for sure there was no way it would get anything clean, but it does. There's also a little trap in the front that things (like coins, baby socks) end up in so it doesn't ever get clogged or not spin out. It also has a feature to keep tumbling the clothes, because I forget to move them to the dryer, so they don't end up stinking and are almost already dry when I remember I did laundry. We had a Maytag top loader before that was an extra large capacity washer. I loved it at first but it began having problems and the Maytag repair man wanted to charge us too much to fix it.

Did you buy an extended warranty for it?
I ordered my front loaders yesterday, and with the money I saved on my price match, I got the extended warranty which covers the possibility of getting a 'lemon'; they will simply replace it outright - all in home service.
I keep purchasing Whirlpool products as I have been very happy with the appliances I have. My washer that I gave away was a commercial grade whirlpool and it was awesome during the time I had it (4 years); it did a buttload of laundry in that time.

Ours came with a 1yr warranty, didn't purchase an extended one since we usually know at the year mark whether it's a lemon or not.

I have a whirlpool cabrio, it's he and low water. I have a year or two? warranty on it, so if something goes wrong then they'll fix it. I had a whirlpool set before this too and it lasted about 7 years and then we sold it to my mom. The only thing 'wrong' with it was that the dryer was starting to take a while.

My worry after spending the money on the Whirlpool Duets was that at year 3 or 4 something would happen & then it's out of pocket to fix - this way I have 6 years (1 + 5 purchased). Since I 'saved' $198 when I price matched the ads for them from ones I printed from online my SO decided to add the extended warranty for the $179

That does not sound fun.
Sorry I have a regular top loader so I can't help.

The cabrio's are top loading. Well the washer is, the dryer is front loading, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a top loading dryer lol

Thanks girls, I'll definately look into the whirl pool duet and the cabrio, Um I so know what you mean about finding an old washer when they made stuff to last, my last washer was awesome it was just cheap top loader it only broke when Xandi tried to help and stuffed it so full that she had to jump on top to close the lid.... now I have this thing, i didn't get the extended warranty it was a gift, I usually don't buy them extra I haven't had them work out for me either I lose the receipt or my problem is not covered, I'm not a complainer so I kind of just suck it up and deal, so its wasted money for us.
