So since the mw told me baby was transverse (which I really already knew), I have been looking up anything I can read about turning baby, reasons for transverse lie and grand multiparity and transverse lie.

I have read a lot of articles and apparently in the obstetrical world anyone having over five term babies is just a freak and a huge risk in care. According to so many of these studies it is amazing any of us are still living, have a uterus left or are even capable of giving birth to live children. If I keep reading these articles I may find one that says any woman with over four children should be involuntarily sterilized to avoid causing birth professionals undue stress.

I don't know why I keep reading this crap, but I think my MW must have read it all, or maybe even wrote some of it, she sure acts like it.

I have had one baby, number four, who presented at 40 weeks in a transverse lie and the hospital scheduled a csection (my first) because babies "never turn this late." The next morning when I went in for my section, guess what....head DOWN!! So I know babies turn "that late", but for some reason I am worrying.
Probably because Csections make me very sick. I do not do well with anesthesia and it causes me to vomit, get hot and cold flashes, the shakes. With both of my sections I was unable to hold baby for over 24 hours because I was so sick.

So yeah, I want to avoid a section at almost any cost, except death to me or baby really.

The only information I can take from any of these articles is that it seems malpresentation (breech or transverse lie) occurs "more often" in grand multips because the uterus tends to be more "relaxed" causing baby to be able to stay in the position longer. Longer, though, not forever. So if one baby could turn at 40 weeks this baby can too....right? The other info is that most babies do turn, and in grand multips it seems to occur later, 32-34 weeks seems to be common in women with less babies and 36-37 for us "freaks."

Can someone come take away my computer, I am reading to much into this and it is stressing me out.

Ohh and if you actually read all this and still think I am somewhat normal....thanks. LOL

I think you are wonderful. I have heard doing a lot of hands and knee stuff will help. Scrub floors, baseboards, do it doggie style.

Remember you and I still have close to two months to go. Just wait til you are in labor. When you get to the hospital they cam check. If he is transverse get the section. Til then don't worry about it. Font lay around on the couch though. That doesn't help.

My back is a million times better today.

And yes. We are freaks. But my ob loves me.

Thanks. I know, 5-7 weeks. I keep trying to remember that. I have been doing strange pelvic tilts, which when done in front of dh leads to doggie style. LOL

My dh is just like wow, I can't believe you go through all this just to try to avoid the section. But he is supportive. He bought me a birth ball and didn't complain when I drove out of our way right before he had to be to work to buy pulsatilla. I won't be laying around on the couch. Dh is off tomorrow so we are gonna go walk for awhile.

I'm glad your ob loves you. I wish I had one who did.

I had no clue we are all freaks in the medical world?

I heard of lots of the stuff FW said about turning the baby. I heard frozen peas on the belly too. I bet he will turn real soon for you, stop reading!

I have never had a section and I'd do everything I could to avoid one too. You sound normal to me.

Wow, that really makes me not want to schedule an appointment. lol. yikes. I'm so worried about what my doctor thinks that I have yet to schedule an appointment and have thought about scheduling with someone else. I was just about to write a post on that actually. **sigh**

I'm sorry your having to go through all of that with your midwife. I really am. I hope your little one turns so you can relax a little

I want to see some of these articles you read lol

Sounds like you are doing all the 'right' things and that baby may turn in a few weeks. I wouldn't worry til you are 40 weeks, it will just save you a few weeks of headaches

Grand multiparous women have higher rates of suboptimal prenatal care... According to who? Is it just because we have more experience and know we can DEMAND what we want and what we don't want? It also goes on to say that there is a higher rate of c-section. Did people with large families waaay back in the day have more c-sections? No.. I think that's more of a generational thing. There are more c-sections overall.

Wow! The whole thing kinda pisses me off! I've never had a serious complication nor needed a c-section. I would think looking at my track record I'd be a dream patient. Apparently not!

Seriously, after reading this I want to schedule a check up with my Dr. just to confront him, lol!

if you haven't already, try spinningbabies.com I've found it really helpful with a couple of mine, now.

An acquaintance is getting all the rigamarole about how high risk she is because this is her fourth pregnancy "in only ten years" and her last baby was "almost 9 pounds". She was scheduled to be induced at 36 weeks, but the doctor decided to take her baby tomorrow, almost five weeks before she is due. She said that he said a few days wouldn't make a difference. I personally suspect a Monday induction worked with his schedule better than a Friday induction. *******. I can't say anything, though... just wish her well.

Yeah, I have been on spinningbabies. It gave me the strange pelvic tilt exercise, pulsatilla and the inversion thing off the couch.

wow....taking a baby at 35-ish weeks, amazing. just wow.

I can't believe people allow this. Unless there is more to her story there is no way I would induce at 36 weeks because of a 9 pound baby.

I don't know for the life of me why anyone would choose to be induced at 35 weeks unless absolutely neccisary, that is just SO wrong.

UM there's time, do not fret!

I know, my rational mind knows, but then there is the other part of me that just has the worst case scenario syndrome.....

I wouldn't even let them say the word induction to me at 35 weeks...and only 9 pounds!!!

LOL My OB's wife has five kids. He seems to love big families. I love him! He is so laid back. I hope your baby turns so that you don't have to have a section.

On baby story yesterday they induced some HUGE black lady because her baby was "already 8 lbs" If I can give birth to an 8 lb baby she could have done a 16 lber lol

Don't know if you're still reading this thread UrbanMomma but my midwife who was caring for me when I had my one and only homebirth gave me some advice for turning baby. I was only 33 weeks at the time but he was huge (4.6kg at birth) and only my second baby. Because it was summer I was able to do this easily. Get into a swimming pool and squat down on one of the steps so that your body is mostly or totally immersed in water. Then do tiny 'bounces' on the step for 5-10 minutes. The water keeps your body buoyed up so your legs don't take strain.

Not sure if it actually works or not, but I did it every day for 2 weeks and baby had turned by the time I saw my mw again and he remained head down.

It's worth a try but I guess it's still winter over there? Maybe if there's an indoor pool you can use it might be worth a shot! Good luck and I hope baby turns for you.
