I just chuckled when I read "Large families...this forum is for families with 4 or more kids". I don't hink 4 kids makes a large family! I don't feel like our 7 makes us a large family...just feels normal to me. Not sure what number wouldmake me think I have a lrge family.
This is pointless and full of typos (phone t
yping), but I just had to share my laugh.

Four kids felt like a lot when I had four kids, now as we have grown to ten, ten just feels normal to me.

However, four kids is considered "large" by a lot of peoples standards.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm minimizing those with 4 kids. Cause I know you are right, and when I look at other families with lots of kids I think they are a large family, I just don't feel like ours is.

I have four and that feels very normal to me. I think five is a large family. I wonder if it is always just one more than you have? lol....

Really though, we don't know that many other people with four kids.

Where I am, 4 is large (the number of kids I have) as it's just not the norm at all; 2, maybe 3 max, but almost no-one ever has more than that.

I have met 1 family in the area with 4 and that's it. All the rest around here stopped at 2, I haven't seen any 3 kid families at all!

Where I am ...Southern California... 4 is pretty large. Most people stick with 2, some are branching out to the "3 is the new 2". So Cal is so expensive I can see why, and people here like their toys and "me" time. My oldest has classmates getting iPads in Easter Baskets. Who can afford that for 4+ kids? I get a lot of "don't you know what causes that?" when they see my 4. I have a really crass comment for that but I'll spare you.

4 is very large here. Most people I know have one or two.

I have 5 plus another "live in" teenager, so 6. I do feel like were big.

Around here you are "allowed" a 3rd dc IF your first 2 are the same gender.
6 is for the most part unheard of. There are some religious families that have....more than 2-3.
I only feel like 6 is a lot when we are out somewhere and they split in different directions.
or when we have to pay for them each individually because wherever we are doesn't have a "family membership" other than that....it's just loud

Most people I know have 2 or 3. I know two women who have four, like me, and one who has 6. Other than that, the large families I know of around here are usually second marriages, etc. Not that those don't count or anything, I just don't know many women who have had more than 3 children.

4 seems normal and I'm sure when I have another 5 will seem normal.

I catch myself saying 'my little family' at times and people give me some seriously raised eyebrows for it! I think I'll try to train myself to say 'my little village' instead!

The comments from others really start pouring in at #4 (sometime #3, depending). So I'm not surprised by JM's definition even though 4 really doesn't seem like a lot to me either.

Mine is large but not as large as some in the area. My family feels normal but that doesn't stop me from seeing someone with a lot of little ones and thinking "dang, that's a lot of kids" only to realize I have more then them

"large" to me, has always been one more than what I currently have! LOL! Eleven doesn't seem large, but 12 seems insane. Eight weeks from now though, 12 will seem normal. totally illogical, I know, but that's how my mind works. (of course everyone else I know thinks 11 is huge.)

The thing I think is funny is I look at shows like that Jon&Kate show and wonder why she needed 14 washers and dryers and 3 stoves? Besides to be a spoiled *****.

My husband is one that will look at 'big' families and make a comment about how many there is, and there will be 4 or 5 kids. Sometimes I point out we have more, sometimes not
