Baby looked ok. Dates seem right about 25ish weeks so they will make a decision this coming Wednesday to change my DD. Anyone here have a 2 vessel cord(single umbilical artery) and an echogenic intracardiac focus? My MFM specialist seemed very concerned yesterday and told me we have a higher chance of down syndrome now with having both of those.(and b/c the last 2 times baby wouldn't unclench one of its fists) On another note fluid levels were higher but not too high yet so we recheck everything the last week of the month as far as an u/s goes and then see if my fluid levels are too high and if so I'll just do like i did last time and have 1-2 NST's weekly and a sono each week to measure fluid. Anyway Dr says not to freak out of the DS possibility but with the situation I should consider preparing myself. It doesnt really frighten me I think im just in shock b/c I was NOT expecting any of that at all. The worst thing I was expecting was extra fluid and ive been there and done that so it wasn't all that scary knowing it could be that. So anyone else dealt with anything similar?

I didn't have the umbilical issue. My 7th was at risk for downs, we did all of the ultrasounds and there were a few area's that they couldn't quite tell so we were told to be cautiously optimistic. We were given the option of a amnio but chose not to cause it wouldn't really make a difference for us. We did some research and then just left it alone. What was going to be was going to be, he's fine so it shows that things can work out just fine.

I have had 2 with 2 vessel cords. They looked closely at the face and heart, but found no abnormality. The heart problem I have no exp with. Praying for you.

I dont have experience with those issues but I have had pregnancy where they found an abnormality at 18 weeks. I know its so hard to go thru the pregnancy worrying. I have no answers other then sometimes when they think its something it isnt.

Good luck. and Hugs.

My Nathan had both. They freaked me out that he had a possibility of being downs. I went to see a peri and had another U/S done. The Peri told me that they no longer consider the SUA to be a soft marker for downs. So with just one soft marker with the bright spot in the heart you are not at increased risk for downs. Try not to worry and know that I was exactly in your shoes and my little guy was fine.

Oh, and to be clear they were both fine. They said I could have small early babies. One was 9/6, the other 10/13, both 2 weeks late.

I am still waiting for an early small baby.

Thanks ladies. I declined the amnio. a for sure yes or no will do nothing and i dont want the added risk/stress of an amnio. Just caught alittle off guard. And like you all have said Drs can and are wrong everyday so we shall see! Im not researching too much b/c I dont want to get lost in all that until i see what we are actually facing. the only thing i am really trying to get info on is my specialist mentioned that sometimes DS babies are harder to nurse and since i typically nurse mine I want to be aware of the challenges I could face there.

I had one with SUA and I had to go for special ultrasounds and like FW - was told I would have a small baby and had another 9+ pound baby so...

I did not have the other thing but Cnote seems to know what she is talking about.

I haven't had those issues before either. We did have a couple issues while pg with my #2, a fluid build up in the back of her brain and a funky heart rhythm but she was born totally healthy and fine.

hugs to you.

dd#2 had a sau that was attached on the bottom of the placenta instead of the middle. extra u/s revealed it was firmly attached and she had a healthy growth rate so no worries. She was healthy.
With my twins I had one with the bright spot on her heart and the other had bright spot on her brain. The combination of 2 abnormalities in 1 pg worried us. i even secrectly watched for any indicators for months after they were born. but both babies are perfectly healthy at 19months.
When drs start talking increased odds, sometimes its helpful to ask for specifics. Odds that worry drs are usually less than 5%. Just to put things in perspective.
