Mine was cornbread!
Yep simple corn bread!

I tried to make a yummy cornbread with bacon chopped up in it to be served with warm and dripping in fresh butter?.MMMMmmm

Will it was awful!! I followed the recipe on back of bag and it came out tough and super super dry with no flavour and I still can't make it right LOL

Oh and pie crust I suck at that too LOL

I tend to try things that I make up, based on what we have on hand. Sometimes it's a huge mess, other times it's awesome.

I make cornbread that is good enough to sell. My dh says its better than his grammas (but shhhhh...lol). Dh and the kids eat it by itself. For the record, the recipe on the back of the bag sucks.

I also make good pie crust, something I mastered around 10-12. I am the family pie baking queen! LOL

Hmmmm, I cannot make anything out of a box. I actually completely screwed up Stove Top the one time I attempted to make it.

I have often sworn that. I grew up with an electric stove, but after I got married, we had gas. Someone that I worked with once brought in food that was cooked in an electric oven, and I could TASTE the difference. I don't know how else to describe it. I asked him if it was cooked in an electric oven, and he said it was. Baking times seem to vary, and the taste can change. We rented a place a few years ago that was electric, and I was so happy to get a gas stove back again. It really DOES make a difference!

It could be. I know that growing up we only had gas stoves. I did not know that electric even existed until I moved up here and stoves are all pretty much electric.

I had to relearn how to cook, there is a difference. it's not huge but it can mean the difference between success or failure lol.......................

I have never used a gas anything we live to far in country for gas, cable , internet(unless you buy a satellite system like we did just for Internet)

We live across a bridge that borders my property just electricity is over here on the WRONG side of the bridge oh and wood heat LOL.

I would terrified to use gas since I have never done that before pre.

1/3 c shortening or butter, don't use margarine. I prefer butter.
1/2 c yellow cornmeal
1/2 c flour
1/2 c sugar
salt
3 tsp baking powder
1 egg beaten
2/3 c evaporated milk
1/3 c water

Melt butter in skillet (or baking dish) at 400*. Mix dry ingredients. I beat the egg into the evap milk/water mix then add to dry ingredients. Pour half the hot melted butter into the mixture, leave half in pan, pour mixture into pan and bake 15 min. Try not to open oven at all for the 15 min. Should be done at that point, but can leave in a few (2-3) extra min if top isn't browned to your liking.

I don't think there is anything I have made that was so horrible I wouldn't try it again.
I can't cook real rice very well that's for sure.

I tried to make this creamed cauliflower that was supposed to be a healthier version of mashed potatoes. It smelled disgusting and actually broke my magic bullet, lol.

Also I tried to make kale. I was told to just pop it in the oven for a few minutes. It was like hard and bitter. We were all throwing at each over the table...started my dh and myself I think. We're not very mature....

Oh I like mashed cauliflower! I just boil it and use a hand mixer. Of course with butter and stuff I'm not sure it's that much healthier. lol

I'm sure I've screwed up plenty of things.

Shortly after dh and I got married, I tried to make broiled steak and red potatoes. I'm not sure who wrote these recipes. I'm pretty sure they didn't know anything about cooking. I followed the recipes to a T and the steak was burned on the outside, caught fire and was raw on the inside. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way. DH ate it all anyway! So sweet!! I've learned a lot about cooking since then.

Lately, our oven seems to be messed up. It takes forever to preheat, and cornbread will not cook properly in it at all. It's gummy and tastes/smells too much like egg. Huge bummer, because I absolutely LOVE cornbread, especially with chili.
