In the direct line of fire for Hurricane Sandy?? They are already declaring a state of emergency and things are closing for Monday and Tuesday. We are expected to get 70+ mph winds, 12+ inches of rain and snow, and it is being called "Frankenstorm" because it is apparently a perfect storm. It has caused mass chaos here - gas stations, grocery stores, home depot (don't even think of trying to find a generator!!). UGH - Seriously people.

Anyone else affected by this storm? Stay safe everyone.

Depending where it hits, we are possibly expected to get "weather" from it, but we are several states away from it so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Likely we'll get it here in NH. It all depends on the path it takes how severe it is for us.

School has already been canceled for all for Mon and Tues. Kelsey's college, like most in the area, are evacuating and urging kids to go home.

I live where the arrow is -

Starting to get a little nervous.....it doesn't really sound good. Ack.

Oh wow, you are in it's direct line, be safe. I've been following the whole thing and they are saying if it hits like they think it will it could cost somewhere in the billions, which when you consider the last "perfect storm" hit it only did millions of dollars in damage. So scary.

Stay safe!

We are in the area of impact as well, although I think and hope it will go a bit north of us. I got all my groceries and flashlights together earlier in the week and put away all our outdoor toys and things today. Now we're just waiting to see what happens. Here they are saying 35-45 mph winds, with gusts of 65. Having lived in Florida that sounds like nothing special to me. You just never know though...better safe than sorry.

Right, that doesn't sound bad to me, but we don't have snow and ice mixed in. Will be watching! Keep us posted. Let us know you are ok.

UGH..prepared? I have no idea. We have food. There is some water in the house. I have batteries and candles. Animals have food and we have all medications needed. Going early in the morning to evacuate my daughter from college. Tomorrow we are making sure that everything is indoors from the yard and nothing on the floor in our basement that we would mind if it gets wet. (Our basement is finished so that is a lot of stuff) I have gas in my car and some cash just in case. I really hope they are making a big deal out of nothing.

Here they are saying 75 mph winds with gusts in excess of 90 mph.

I will update when I can.

So far so good. The winds are picking up. It's been raining all night. The little creek behind my house is full. I just heard on the news that the hurricane is still 500 miles out to sea and not yet arrived. I can honestly say that this is the scariest storm I have ever been through. The news is reporting that our state is under a state of emergency, there is a driving ban unless you are emergency personnel, and everyone is being told to fill up bathtubs with water, pack an emergency "to-go" bag in case of evacuation, and be prepared for multiple days with no power. Never heard those warnings before.

Keeping my fingers crossed. Please pray we all stay safe.

dear Heavenly Father:

i ask your protection to shield all of those in the path of this storm, Lord. i especially ask for safety for my loved ones in the impacted area, not that they are special Father, just special to me. i pray that this storm will amount to less than expected and ask you to provide peace instead of fear, comfort instead of anxiety. Lord be with the people on the east coast and guard so no loss of life occurs. Father God, you know what is happening and what the outcome will be and i pray that it will show the world your mighty power and bring attention to you. Your will be done, in Jesus most holy name, AMEN!

We got the call last night that school was cancelled for our kids today. So far, we're doing okay, but I heard on the way to work this morning that the worst wind/rain for us is going to be between 3 & 6 this afternoon/evening. However, that seems a little odd to me since the storm is supposed to make landfall around 2 am. All we can do at this point is wait and see.
