We only have 2 kids so far so we don't have completely crazy grocery bills yet. I have a friend who has 4 kids and homeschools plus her husband works from home. She makes her own laundry detergent, her daughter is diabetic so she has to plan every meal, and she has her own chickens for eggs. This year she started her own veggie garden but started really small to make sure she could handle all of it. I have another friend who lives in Oregon and she makes her own cleaners.
Cloth diapers are good. There is a bit of initial investment but you can get some perfectly good used ones for CHEAP! Also, you can do homemade baby wipes. Better for sensitive skin and cheaper.
