This is a very simple definition of a handfasting.

Handfasting is an alternate form of marriage ceremony. It dates back hundreds of years, and spans several cultures. In some cultures (as in the Scottish Highlands), it was a marriage of a "year and a day". If at the end of the year, the couple found that they were incompatible, and there were no children, they could part. Otherwise, they could agree to remain together, and the marriage then became a legal and lifelong bond.

I know people who had handfasting ceremonies but also had a valid marriage license, too. They still renew their handfasting vows per their beliefs.

Have a party to go to and don't really want to go. Good news is I'm going to use the excuse of having to come home early so I can get the husband off to work. Eh, he could do it himself but this way I won't get stuck there for hours

We're having Megan and Kailyns party tomorrow and I still have to get the cake made.

We're pagan, and in the southern hemisphere so it was Beltane (the one with the maypole, novemberpole doesn't quite have the same ring to it, you lucky northern hemisphere ducks).

We were handfasted one year and one day prior to a regular wedding ceremony, in our spiritual circle everyone who has been handfasted renews their handfasting vows on Beltane.

One of my stupid dogs stole the whole freaking package of hot dogs we were grilling tonight. We have burgers, too, but the hot dogs are my favorite. Stupid dogs.

Congrats! Is this why he wants to enlist? Good plan. Now you HAVE to have another. I love those families! Someone asked me today if I was 7,8,9's grandmother. I was not amused.

No, enlisting was his plan before. I think he needs to get married now.

So he should get married and then enlist? Or get married and not enlist?

He should get married, and then he and his wife should make that decision.

My honest belief is that they are a little young, but no baby is ever a mistake, God doesn't make mistakes. The baby is a blessing.

Congrats UM!

I'll be honest I would flip a *****.…then come back to earth and love my grand baby.

If he still wants to enlist, getting married first is best. It opens a whole different world to them. Families do a lot better then single enlisted men.

Congrats! I hope you enjoy it.

Two of my girls were camping out last night. I did a search for scary pictures to send to them and scare them. Instead, I freaked myself out.

Congrats on the job!

Have any of you ladies used the nuva ring birth control? I just got my script and am just worried a little of side effects. I have never used something like this but wanted to give it a try.
