UM, welcome to my club!!!!! I saw on f/b that you didn't want to be called something or other and one of your friends said the baby will tell you who you are. well that is a yes and no answer. I wanted my kids to call my parents papa and nana (VERY uncommon at that time 34ish years ago). so since I had the second grandbaby in the family (and they were only 6 weeks apart), I started referring to my parents as nana and papa. it stuck. so if there is a cute name you like, tell your son and start using it now in reference to the new baby. be who you want to be. some of my friends go by: granny, gama, minga, grams, bubby (Yiddish), there are tons of ideas. google it!!!

I would be very upset to be a grandparent at least for 10 more years or so.. I am not done having kids yet though so that's the difference I guess.

Had new company is weekend. The neighbors had dinner here instead of our regulars. He was at his weekend drill thingy.

thanks ladies. I'm super excited.

Um, my kids have different names for the sets of grandparents. My father in law was papa and my mom is Memaw. My step dad is grandpa to the kids.

My father in law is Papa because my oldest pointed to him when she was 22 months old and said "Dat's Papa!" No one had told her a thing, it was the first time she had met him. They call my husband's Uncle Denver "Papa Denver" because he's been most like a grandparent to them. My dad, if he was still with us, would be Papa Mike and my step mom is Nanny.

eta: when we're grandparents I want to be called Mim and my husbad will be Papa.

Congrats, I think, UM! Wouldn't that be something if you were pregnant, too? Kind of like Father of the Bride 2. As far as names, you can certainly choose. I have a friend whose mom wanted to be Nanoo so she is. That's what they always called her, and that's what the grandbaby calls her now. For my parents, my oldest chose what they would be called (the privilege of being the first). She couldn't say grandma & grandpa so she got Noma and Papa out of it. It stuck. That's what ALL (11) of the grandkids call my parents. The oldest has another set of grandparents that she calls that, too. My in-laws, though (big ol' spoilsports) didn't like it because it wasn't "proper" so they are called grandma & grandpa. BORING!!! Interestingly enough, though, my mother-in-law lets my 4th call her Memaw and thought that was cute when she couldn't say grandma at first. She wouldn't allow it with my other girls. Whatever!

BM8, congrats on the job! Now that I know where you live, I can't imagine you found something within 5 minutes.

Amira, I had NuvaRing. You're not still nursing, are you? You can't use it while breastfeeding. Anyhow, I had it after our 3rd. I am terrible, terrible, terrible at taking pills, which is why we have #5. Anyhow, it worked for us for a good 8 years. I got panicked at some of the side effects when I was researching it on the Internet, but the doctor told me I had none of the risk factors, and I never had any issue with it. It was a little odd for me to get used to, but only having to worry about it once a month was WAY better than something every day. I didn't even follow the directions exactly (not that I recommend that for other people). I just left it in until the first day of my period, and then I took it out and put a new one in when my period was over. It made it easy to remember exactly when to insert it or remove it.

Repti, love the costumes! I really, really hate Halloween. We didn't really do trick or treating this year since my oldest had a tournament game for volleyball. Darn! I do try to make an effort for the kids, though since they all like it. UM, we did a hunt one year when we lived in WI because we didn't live in the best neighborhood, and we missed the one at the mall. My oldest was just asking me about it the other day, and she was only 4 1/2 at the time.

Nothing really terribly exciting here. My last day at work was Thursday. However, they have asked me to stay on for just a portion of my company. I can work about 1 day per week, and only have to be in the office 2-3 times per month. Everything else can be done from home. There was just no way I could turn that down! Gall bladder removal this Wednesday, and my mom flies in Tuesday morning so that she can help me with the kids since I'm not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds.

DH's parents are Nan and Pop and mine are/were Grandmother and Grandfather, they have two living great grandparents, Great-Gran (my paternal grandmother) and Dadi (Hindi for grandmother, DH's maternal grandmother). We're not terribly creative over here.

It's our 18th anniversary! Nothing exciting or interesting going on, but a pleasant weekend and day. Maybe dinner in two weeks when he gets paid!

wow, that was a lot to catch on, and lots of exciting news, congrats UM and BM8 and Happy Anniversary FW.

I am going to be Oma one day. Dh's not sold on being Opa (it's dutch) but he can pick something different. My parents are Opa and Oma, and inlaws are grandma and grandpa.

There was lots of activity at our house, and a lot of people, and it was great. We had a big snowfall saturday to sunday, and school is closed today because the country roads are not plowed out. I normally love those days, but most of my kids are off thursday afternoon and not back to school until wednesday, so we already have a break then. But, the house is very messy from all the celebrations, so we're going to get some team cleaning done.

I doubt it, but is possible. My friend just told me she is pg with #8. She had a miscarriage last year. We both thought we were done. She is 44 (45 in December I think). I certainly would be happy to have another baby. I certainly would be happy not. It is kind of a nice place to be.

Congrats UM! That's very exciting.

Love the costumes Repti! We had a good Halloween. Dh is usually a spoilsport but not as bad this year as in the past. The kids were all happy with their costumes which as we all know is a feat in itself. Luckily, it wasn't raining and the weather was perfect, not too hot or too cold. My daughter was a creepy clown and she got a ton of stares and comments. Every so often she would lift her mask because it was hot and someone nearby was always surprised to see that a girl was in the costume. She had a lot of fun with that!

Happy Anniversary FW!

Happy Anniversary, FW!

Number5, I'm working at the local grocery store.

First day of work went well. And it went fairly fast, too, until the last hour. My back is a little achy , but that's to be expected until I get used to being on my feet for several hours at a time again.

The girl training me is 4 or 5 weeks pregnant and dealing with all day sickness. She went home an hour early because she couldn't keep anything down.

I am probably being petty, but I think I noticed something today. I am doing the fb posts through November about being thankful. Day one my sister, day two extended family, day three time with my kids. My sister and cousin were all like and comment. Today I put husband/anniversary stuff and they both have ignored it. They have put up bit strips, liked each other's stuff, but not my anniversary post. I'm annoyed.

They're just jealous.

Family we choose is more important than the stupid family we're born into.

I'd be annoyed too!

I don't pay that much attention to who likes what. I mean I see who does but I don't remember who's liked what. My biggest stalkers are you guys haha

We had birthdays, Kailyn LOVED her dinosaurs.

Gosh it's boring around here. Not much to add really.

Sarah I was hired at a our local grocery store for part time office help, but they are training me on registers first since the office person is "over" the cashiers sort of and need to be able to run the second register if the cashier on duty gets a line of customers.

It's part time right now but I'm hoping it turns into full time later!
