Do you remember what was happening in the world when your oldest was born?

My oldest was born fall of 1997, and Princess Diana had just died.

I haven't got a clue with my other ones, life just became a blur.

I don't really remember much when he was born, I was pretty centered around myself and him, but he was born 7/23/01, and shortly after that was 9/11. I was in a teen parenting program and we spent the day watching the footage.

Right before Jayde was born was when they officially were talking 'war' in the middle east, I remember that clearly because I was worried about what kind of world I was bringing another kid into.

What a cool topic! My first was born in July, 2008. Olympics and upcoming presidential elections with a lot of Obama excitement were the big news items that I remember at the time.

B was born in 2005. Hurricane Katrina hit that year. My dh is in the Coast Guard, so he went down to New Orleans to work. I also remember that we got a new pope that year.

2000. I remember gas hit $2 a gallon when I was in the hospital and it was a huge deal and people were outraged. If only we knew what was coming, I'd love $2 a gallon gas

My oldest was born in January 1997, and I don't remember anything specific. I suppose I'd have to go back and look at her baby book. I do know I was in college and went back to classes just 2 weeks after having her.

haha! I would never have remembered that, but it's only because people under 5' and capri pants don't mix

I remember it because Lyss was born that summer and I gave her the middle name Kapri. She goes by Kay now...same as mine...should have used it to begin with.
I seriously cannot remember ANYTHING else that was going on but can still see those OLD NAVY commercials playing in my head, lol!

I've been thinking on this one, and then went and did a little research cause I remembered Ted being really young, but wasn't sure about the details, so of course I had to go look.

The LA Riots, Ted was born a few months after the Rodney King beating, and was 10 months old (I was almost ready to have Sam) when the riots happened. We could see them from our window, far enough away we were 'safe' but super close nonetheless. So Sam was born during the aftermath of it and Ted was born at the beginning of it.

I knew there was something, I just had to think on it.
