Amira, I think because of how she answered the question. Most people are very unaccepting of anything over 2, and especially over 3. Then, it seems, once you get past 5 or so, they just start assuming you're crazy and ponder about how many you're going to pop out and when you're going to start a reality show.

I liked the paragraph about how people tend to have this weird obsession over whether kids in large families are planned or not. That has been my main experience, I haven't really experienced an awful lot of the condolences or made to feel bad, but people do seem interested in my family planning intentions, and it's quite a personal thing to express curiosity over. After all, you are essentially asking someone (in some cases, a stranger) about their sex life. Weird.
