hi all,
tonight was the team party for wyatt's baseball team. there are two girls on his team. one of them walked into the pizza parlour with her baby doll in her arms and a diaper bag on her shoulder. i asked her what was the 'baby's' name and she said 'layla', with a huge smile. she was so tender with that darn doll, and was showing off the new outfit that 'layla' got at the store earlier today. when she wanted to go into the arcade, she asked me to watch 'layla' and to find her if 'layla' started to cry too much. it was just so sweet and she was real about it, not like she was playing a game at all. it touched my heart.

i came home from the party to work on my quilt for my class. i finished the top and had leftover squares, so i pieced a doll quilt for 'layla'! i will give it to her tomorrow at our game. it was good practice for me and i hope she will enjoy it.

My oldest dd has a doll like that. She is 11, going on 12, and some people are starting to tell her she is too old to play with dolls. That makes me mad, and sad. She is still just a girl.

So nice of you to make Lalyla a quilt!!

Never to old --I think roll playing like that is grand! building REAL life skills rather than just xbox skills!! What a sweet little girl!

That is very thoughtful and kind to take personal time to give a handmade gift that can last a lifetime!

thats what i thought...that it was so nice to see an girl of age 10-ish playing with a doll in public. you just dont see that anymore. it reminded me that i got my last doll (as a child) when i turned 13.

I bet she will love the quilt.

My daughter Beth has a little stuffed cat she carries around, and one of my friends took Sock's measurements and made her a little pajama set and a school uniform that matched Beth's for a birthday present. She was so excited.

I'm sure she'll love it. I had dolls into my teens also. I still like dolls.

That's so sweet! My girls adore their dolls and I know they would love something so personal, I'm sure she and her mother were touched!

That's so sweet! I was just like that when I was younger I used to feed my babies with real bottles and milk lol and change their diapers and take them places I literally treated them like they were real! I always knew I wanted to be a mama and Layla is an awesome name .. Obviously
