around here 2 or 3 is the norm if you have more than 3 people feel free to comment on the size of the family.

I guess 2 or 3 would be the norm, but it's certainly not uncommon here for people to have 4 kids. (we live in a rural community). I only know of one other (young) mom that has 5 kids (and her youngest was not planned), so I am kind of the odd one out, but I rarely run into negative reactions (just stupid ones, pertaining to having all girls).

Around here families tend to stop at 2. If they have 3, it was usually unplanned and a big surprise. (we live in the Silicon Valley of California, where the 50 year old houses that need to be completely remodeled go for $700,000) Nobody can afford kids around here, let alone daycare costs. The daycare center next to my home charges $1300/month for a newborn up to 18 months. CRAZY!
When people see me and my husband out with the 5 kids, we are always being asked how old our little brothers and sisters are. LOL Nobody believes they are all ours... I don't know if it's because it's unheard of to have 5 kids here, or because him and I look so dang young!

Hmmm it varies around here...its between 2, 3 and 4 anything bigger and people are like ... So I guess I fit right in with 4. Although maybe Im just thinking 4 because my mom had 4 and my aunt had 4 and my sister has 4 as well as my cousin and my cousins friend...

Most people I know have or plan on having two kids. And then some of them try for #3 if #1 and #2 both turn out to be the same sex

I would have to say 2 kids. It's not unusual to see 3 or 4 but people alwauys make the "gee you have your hands full" when it is any more than 2. I remember someone telling us how brave we were when we announced we were expecting #3.

I think here the norm is at least 4. I do get comments with my 6 about when I'm going to stop. God help me when #7 comes!!
