Ours is big enough for all the children, and one adult. We generally have the kids sit at the table and my husband and I sit on the couch with trays. If ever we don't have all the children with us, whoever is here will sit at the dining room table together.

The table is big enough ... but we only have 4 chairs!! So.... the 3 girls sit in chairs with one adult and the baby is in the high chair. The other adult sits on the couch or something!

We follow the custom here of sitting on the floor to eat. We put down a big plastic tableclothe (lack of a better work) and eat on the floor. It works out alot better with the kids as long as our tablecloth is big enough. You can get the thicker ones that you wash each time or you can get the disposable ones. So, as long as we have the floor space, we have the room. I do have tables, but we usually don't eat at them (the kids eat breakfast at the one in the kitchen. When my mom was here we ate at the kitchen table and it wasn't big enough. We had to hassle with the little ones the whole time. It was a pain, but we did it so my mom could sit with us and eat. She has knee/back problems so sitting on the floor is kind of out.

Our table fits all of us, it's oval shaped, so six chairs and a highchair fit. I can make it bigger if I need to, it has a leaf.
I also have a kitchen island with 4 stools, and I do have 4 more stools so 8 people are able to sit there. This has been great for having guests, the adults and really little ones sit at the table and the kids sit at the island.

Our isn't really big enough but we make do. When hubby eats we all fit if Alyssa sits in a high chair and eli always sits in one still. When he's not home she likes to sit at the table like a big girl. That will probably be our next big purchase.

The table is big enough, but I need two more chairs. We're going to buy a new set soon.
