We got new furniture last year, because now we have a basement and our old stuff went down there. I had had slipcovers on them for years already. It was 10 years old. The stuff I got now is not that expensive, but the kids don't really sit upstairs a whole lot, so I expect it will stay nice for a while yet.
Well, I just moved in w/ DH in August of 05, and he had this couch for about 3 years prior, but never had kids, so it was in perfect condition. Our children completely ruined it and he refuses to buy a new one till they are 18...I MUST convince him otherwise. I am glad that it isn't just our kids wrecking furniture, it makes me feel better about my parenting habits, lol. And if he really does plan on keeping this for a long time, I WILL get about 10 slip covers that I can change whenever I feel like it. lol
I spent a couple thousand on what I 'thought' was a good set in 2003 and it's ruined now. I'm currently trying to decide what I want to get, and I'm getting something new for the family room.
WOW you are brave woman. Good Luck on the new set.
