We live in the country as well and love it! Most of our neighbours are DH's relatives, lots of us sort of farm together, or at least our dads did so that's why we're all here. It's great.

We're military so I know that if I just wait it out another year we get to go back to the states to real houses. Right now we're in Germany. Stairwell housing blows. We live on the third floor in a four bedroom apartment. The rooms are TINY. Like literally the nursery only holds the crib, the changing table and the dresser and it's kind of cramped. my bedroom barely fits two dressers and our full size bed. But this is entirely typical here since the country seems rather cramped in general. I can't WAIT to move back to the states! With a real house! With my washer and dryer on the same floor! And central heat and air ((I despise radiators and no air conditioning)) and the list just goes on and on and on. I would kill for a backyard too.
germany is beautiful yes, but I wanna go home.

We are planning on moving when we are in a more stable financial position. We had our house built in a neighborhood of mostly young families. We thought it would be a good location. We have lived here 2.5 years and never see our neighbors. I know people in our neighborhood are drug dealers as well. We've had people shoot fireworks off towards our house. Last 4th of July our yard, deck and driveway were littered with firework debris. We've had many stray dogs. A poodle from down the street bit my friend after it jumped in my van b/c it's owners let it wander around even though we have a leash law here. We had kids from down the street throw rocks at our new car with their parents egging them on b/c we called the cops when they were shooting fireworks off at our house. If we hadn't of had to make such a quick decision as far as where to live (I got pg with the twins when we were living with my in-laws) we probably would have chosen a different area. Along with those problems, the city planning here is horrible! It was a small town, turned bedroom community that is growing faster than the city planned for. Every time it rains the only street out of our neighborhood floods.

I LOVE my town, I LOVE my house, I like my neighborhood, I don't like many of my neighbors, lol! We moved into a subdivision so the kids could run outside and play and have friends, and there are like 5 kids on our road, they never come outside, and the people who live down our street FLY down the road, so it makes me a nervous wreck when the kids are outside in the front. We fenced our backyard in completely, so I love that I can let them run free out back without having to worry. I just wish there were more kids their ages. If I could move my house into another subdiv. I would comsiderate, lol! But I just got my house painted and decorated the way I want, so i'm not budging (unless we decide to leave and go to Texas...).

Home is northern california, but you couldn't buy a shoebox for a decent price. I found my dream home in northern texas in the town my parents just moved to. Six bedrooms, two stories, five acres, GEORGOUS!!! Even has a guest house in the back to stuff my MIL into...hehe. So within our price range. Problem is by the time Dh gets out, it will be sold.
