we went to our library's story time, we go most weeks. Today was all books and songs about eating turkey i do not think DD noticed but it made me really sad and uncomfortable. i am in a quandry that i want to explain being veg to DD without traumatizing her (people kill and eat animals) and not making those who eat meat look like monsters
Boo I worry about this stuff all the time...I have a feeling it will just get worse as they get older (my oldest is three). I take every possible chance to explain eating plants and not animals to him in private, hoping that he'll get it enough to not be confused by people talking about eating animals. Hopefully we're able to give them the tools and ideas they need to feel good about how we eat and be able to articulate that to others when we're not around.
This is my first Thanksgiving as a vegan, and all the turkey talk and imagery is really disturbing to me as well
