Hi All! I've been on JM for awhile (my DS was born in February), but was reminded recently about the vegetarian mommies board so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Nichole and my husband and I are raising our son vegetarian. My husband was raised that way as well (he's never knowingly eaten meat). I imagine I'll be frequenting this board regularly for recipes and vegetarian mommy support. I also post on the breastfeeding board and the attachment parenting board. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
And on that note... I made a super yummy tofu turkey for Thanksgiving. It was the first time we had tried to do something like that and it came out so good!
Welcome to the board. I am Meredith, host here, and as you know, co host of the breastfeeding board I have been vegetarian for 18 years I think, i am losing count DH is not vegetarian, but eats 90% veg at home and we are raising DD vegetarian (2.5yo) and she goes to a school that serves vegetarian and organic food. we are lucky.
I like how the second recipe has a bottom to the tofu turkey.
Your situation is similar to ours, but reversed. My husband is vegetarian but I am not. We don't have meat at home, though, so I only eat when we go out. But our DS and any other children will be raised vegetarian. That is great the your DD's school serves vegetarian and organic food. I doubt we would find that here (we live in New Orleans). We plan on home schooling, though.
