ds is getting bored with my old standards so....

Tonight is a trial run of tweaking my mom's recipe for black eyed peas

Tomorrow is lazy mom's lasagna

There are burritoes in the freezer if either of those flop and enough field run potatoes left that he can still have one any time he asks.

DD has been a bear lately with food, she is only eating bean soups lately.

It might be the age. ds2 has been my best eater so far, but perhaps their growth is just slowing down and they don't need to eat as much?

He's scarfing down some canned peaches right now, but I worry that all the processed sugar in winter foods might negatively affect his ability to self-regulate, if I'm explaining that in a way that makes sense to you. We don't do the Clean Plate Club or anything, but I'm striving for a middle ground instead of either of the extremes.

ds1 dropped by unannounced and hungry last night, so we wound up doing spaghetti and I'll start tweaking the "cheesey beans and rice" recipe of my childhood tonight. I'm going to use 1/2 cup of nutritional yeast instead of 1/2 lb of cheddar and if that doesn't work, I'll add some grapeseed oil next and use the sauce from this:

Best Vegan Mac and Cheese in the entire world...seriously | VegWeb.com, The World's Largest Collection of Vegetarian Recipes

for further inspiration until I get it right.

i try to look at what DD eats over the course of a day, if she has one really good and nutritious meal, i am ok with her eating something less nutritious (pasta, etc) for dinner, lunch, etc.
