Hi! My name is Holly. I am mom to a 5 y/o who was dx with speech apraxia 2 years ago by his neurologist. With the help of private speech therapy plus what he was receiving at school, his speech has improved. He is still kind of delayed in the spech aspect but we have a feeling he will keep improving.

I am so glad to see this board here!

Oh and I forgot to mention none of my children have hearing impairment but I do. I suffered a 50% hearing loss as a child in my right ear. I have learned to adapt with it.

Welcome Holly! My name is Michele. I'm mommy to Anastasiya (2 yrs old) who has a speech delay. We are still going through testing and evals. They suspect apraxia and I am hoping that is not the case. My daughter starts speech therapy on the 22nd. I look forward to getting to know you!

It's rough with all the testing and evaluations. We took him to a developmental pediatrician and a neurologist. The speech therapy will do wonders for your little girl!

Also, I know she is only 2 so she's a little young. But check to see if your school district offers a special needs preschool program. Children are usually eligible for the program as soon as they turn 3 years old. It's something worth looking into. Cody went for 2 years and is in kindergarten this year. I have a feeling without the help of the outside therapies and the preschool he never would have been ready for kindergarten.

Welcome Holly. I am Jennifer, mommy to Alexis who is 6 with a significant speech delay due to a visual impairment, autism, and brain structure abnormalities (possible moderate MR). I am looking forward to getting to know you better.
