Does your child have a drooling problem along with their speech delay?

OMG yes!!! She is 6 and still drools. It drives me nuts and we haven't got any idea how to stop her. It has greatly improved, but she still does it and at 6, people look at us funny because of her drooling.

I asked too because people still give us funny looks about Cody's drooling at almost 6 years old too.

I was told when he was in speech therapy that it's because some of the muscles of the mouth might not be working right. They taught him how to suck the drool back in so it's not hanging off of his chin. Most of the time he remembers but sometimes we just imitate it and he remembers.

Normally no but in the past couple weeks she has been drooling ALOT. She has a cold and is really stuffy so I am not sure if it is her cold or something else.

Caden still drools all the time. I am constantly wiping his chin. I definitely think that it has to do with having apraxia.

The way the private speech therapist did to lessen it a little was to teach him when he feels the drool on his chin, to suck it back in. I know generally parents don't like their kids doing that with their spit (it used to drive me NUTS when my older 2 did it just for the heck of it!) but it makes them aware that they are drooling.
