that your child is receiving enough therapy?

I have heard of some kids who only receive speech like once a month, and yes I know mom and dad work on it at home (but not in every case), but if the professional, who is supposed to help develop the speech is only there once a month, what good does that do? What if mom and dad were incorrectly doing something? How would they know?

They are going to be starting Tasiya off on once a week right now and maybe move up from there if it is needed. I agree I don't think once a month is enough. I would not be happy about that.

We are at 5 times a week and sometimes I wonder if that is enough. We have made some progress, but not in the areas I would really love to see it. Answering questions, language comprehension (IE read a book and ask what was Timmy doing? Who were is friends) and being able to answer. At this point in time, we have no idea how much of what she is learning, she is understanding vs. just memorizing it.

Once a month to me for a child who is delayed is not enough!

The speech therapist told me all of the things i'm doing at home w/ Evan during the day are the exact same things she was going to tell me to do! So, that made me feel good - that we're on the right track. They told me he'll be having speech once a week. Preschool is also an option, so he might get therapy there as well. So, we'll see!

My youngest brother is 9 years old and I don't feel my mom does enough w/ him at home. (My mother did not raise myself or any of my brothers & sister, except him) She does not work with him and he now seems to be autistic. He will be tested for that in October. Sorry for the rant!

Aww, I am sorry sweetie. I hate to see things like that happen, and I can only imagine how much worse it has to be when its your own sibling. And don't worry about the rant, that's what we are all here for.
