Anyone have any experiance with DAS? My daughter is almost 7 and has a severe case of DAS...She's been in speech now for almost 3 years and hasn't made a huge improvement...I worry that she will never have normal speech...Just curious if anyone's children has ever had this kind of speech problem and came out of it to have a somewhat normal speech...thanks!

Hi there nice to meet you. I have a son that is going through speech therapy right now. He has been in speech therapy since May of this year. We had lots of obstacles to go through and the public system failled us. Joshua is going through private speech therapy and he will be 5 in a few weeks. What kink of speech therapy does your therapist do with her? Do they make it fun for her and learn at the same time. Did they check her palet to see if its high? Oral exam to see how her tongue is moving when speaking?

I don't have any personal experience with it, though we are watching my son to see if he is just a late talker of if he might have DAS as well... he has only been hearing for 8 months so we can't really say yet! I do, however, know another little guy with DAS...

Ethan's World

He is 4, deaf with cochlear implants, DAS, and autistic ... and he has great pronunciation these days, starting to put 3 words together and making great strides.
