Hello ladies, I am new to this board and I am 6 weeks pregnant. I had my first u/s yesterday and measured at 6 weeks, 1 day. Two ges sacs were there and there was Baby A with a hearbeat of 113 bpm. Baby B was smaller and not as developed and there was no heartbeat detected.

The doctor explained vanishing twin syndrome which I have researched but have any of you had this happen? we go back in two weeks to see about Baby B. We trust God and His plan but we are praying for LIFE for both babies.

Anyone go back and got a heartbeat?

First off Congratulations on your PG!

6 weeks is still early so it could go either way. I know MANY MoM's (Moms of Multiples) who have been right where you are. and when they have gon back for their next U/S, usually 1 to 2 week later, there have been 2 healthy heartbeats.

Was there anything in B's sac? Or was it completely empty? My guess is that if there was something in it that you very well could have another heartbeat at your next U/S. It's very common for the babies to measure several days more or less then the other!

Good Luck!! and Please Keep us Posted!

Thank you so much. Yes Baby B was in the sac, just smaller than Baby A which measured at 5 mm and Baby B there was no h/b detected.

I am learning that this is more common than I thought and we pray we will have two strong h/bs in 2 weeks.

We had something similar. Baby A had a strong hb but baby B had a really weak one (it could barely be heard). The doctor explained that it would be normal to loose one at that point and that most women would never even know it had happened, etc... The next week Baby b had barely grown but the heart beat was loud. The week after that baby b was catching up in size and had a good hb - that's when they declared it a twin pregnancy. Now, not to scare you, but Baby b ended up with an umbilical cord problem (I was told she didn't attach properly) and my girls were born at 27 weeks - they are doing great though and are five weeks today!

I wouldnt worry, 6 weeks is pretty early, my dr wouldnt even let me hear the heartbeats until 12 weeks. And we couldnt see the heartbeats at 6 weeks because you could barely see the little beans in the sac. Your family is in our T&Ps, make sure to keep you head up and keep us updated!

We only heard the heartbeats once or twice. My docs always insisted that it was too hard to distinguish between the two. I always saw them on the u/s monitor.

Congratulations on the pregnancy! DH and I found out last week that we were having twins, when we were 7 weeks and 2 days along. Please KUP on the heartbeats and the growth. I will be excited to have someone due about the same time as me with twins!

The original yo-yo I saw wouldn't even try for the heartbeat at 7 weeks. Thank goodness I transferred, I couldn't believe I wasted my time on him.
