I thought I would update you on John and Tyler's potty training. I didn't end up just taking the diapers off.
I told the boys that they need to poo and pee in the potty from now on like Henry in the potty book.
Wednesday: I put them both on the potty. One on the toilet and the other on the floor potty and we read just before nap time. We sat there for about 10min (it seemed longer but I think it may have been less). Long story short, took them off the potty and tried to nap them. Tyler indicated that he wanted to potty, but I thought he wanted out of nap time so I told him to just go in his diaper (BIG MISTAKE) he poo'ed in his diaper. so I tried to get him to finish on the toilet and boy was it messy, so I put them both in the tub and washed their bums and wiped the potty down with lysol.
Last night: Put them both on the Potty, Tyler actually asked to go on but I guess we didn't wait long enough and as soon as I took him off and put him back in his diaper he pooed. oh-well at least he's asking.
This morning: Tyler asked to go on the potty, we sat on it for a little while, Each one on their potty (John has no interest) put their diapers back on washed thier hands, brushed their teeth and washed there face. Tyler indicated that he wanted to go on the potty again so just when I got his diaper off he peed before we could get to the potty.
On the bright side Tyler knows when he wants to potty and I'm hoping he's close to wearing big boy pants. We'll work on it some more this weekend and every day until he gets it. We haven't had success but I'm hoping it's soon.
Signs that I know Tyler is ready is that he hides when he does poo and he asks to go on the potty.
I was talking to my cousin who has girl twins the same age as my boys. Her girls are both pooing in the potty but they don't know when they are going to pee so they're having lots of accidents. She's thinking about replacing her carpets.
That is GREAT that he is asking to go!How old are your boys?I think by Tyler always asking that he will be going in no time! And maybe John will pick on what his brother is doing and start to show an interest in going as well.
My Kayden is 23 months and when he poops he comes over and stands by me.So i know he is defiantly showing signs as well.
