I've been a member of the January DDC since I found out I was pregnant. My due date is actually Feb 3rd but since we'll probably be having the babies in early January, I figured I'd stick with my January ladies

I'm expecting twins, the big U/S is only next wednesday Sept 9th, so we don't know if we're shopping blue or pink or both yet, nor do we have any names picked out.

I took my first preggo test on May 24th (a couple days before 4 weeks I guess), which is weird because I don't even think I would have started my period yet, but I got a very faint line on the test. Took several more over the next few days and the results didn't change

I thought I had lost the baby a 6 1/2 weeks because of heavy bleeding and cramping, it was a Friday night, went to the ER and they took blood tests and made me go back on Sunday to compare my hormone levels to see if they had dropped. (God only knows why they didn't just give me an U/S that Friday night instead of letting me wait out all Saturday thinking I had lost the baby, I mean, there was a LOT of blood.) So after spending 8 hours at the hospital on Sunday and 2 ultrasounds later (which they didn't let me look at the monitor), I finally saw the doctor again who explained to me that the baby was fine, that the bleeding was a tear in my placenta and I needed to take a few weeks off work to let it heal or whatever.... and that they found two heartbeats and not just one.
I think I was bawling more when I left then when I actually went in thinking I had lost the baby. At least it was good tears this time.

So hubby and I are both extremely excited to be waiting for our two little babies, these will be our first kiddos.

So far everything seems to be going along nicely, I still worry about something going wrong, but I think that will be the case until I can hold my babies in my arms.

The doctor told me he'd be putting me off work at 24 weeks to avoid early labor, which is fine by me, but didn't really elaborate as to why, I don't know why I didn't ask, but I have an appt on Thursday with the same specialist and this time around I'm taking a list of questions with me so I can make sure I ask what I need to. I'm scheduled for an U/S every 4 weeks, I don't know whether it is normal or not though, maybe because I had complications at the start?

Anyways, so that's my story

Looking forward to getting to know you ladies and your kiddos

Cheers,
Claire

Congrats on your babies - welcome to the world of twins!! As for having frequent u/s is sometimes a part of twin pregnancies - do you know what kind of twins you are having - mono/di, di/di that could make a difference. Later in pregnancy its normal to get more frequent u/s to monitor equal growth b/t the babies. I used to keep a note pad beside my bed because it seemed nighttime was when I thought of my questions

Good Luck and Welcome to the club!!!

Congrats!!! your my Due Date Buddy!! I am actually due Feb. 3 as well but of course will probably go in Jan. many u/s are part of twins. I go to my OBGYN and to the Perinatologist, and I get u/s all the time.

Its cool that we will be going thru the same things at the same time!

Good Luck!

There are three types of twins - (techinically 4 types with conjoined twins included)
- mono/mono which means both babies share a placenta and are in the same sac, this is rare and really high risk

-mono/di meaning babies are in different sacs but share a placenta - these twins have frequent u/s because of the risk of TTTS

di/di - babies each have their own placenta and own sacs - this is the most common and the 'safest' type.

Anyway not to sound like a know-it-all( 'cause I am definitely not!!! ) I did a lot reading/googling while on bedrest and pumping. It just helps to keep yourself informed

Thanks for the welcome ladies

tundrababy - thanks for the explanation... though I had my regular checkup today and totally forgot to ask so much for writing things down eh? LOL

Jessy133 - That is totally awesome that we are due the same day & both with twins! LOL I'm hoping for pink & blue, but will be happy either way as long as they are healthy. Counting downs the days till Sept 9th for my big U/S (heartbeats today were 136 & 156, I'm hoping that means one of each, but who knows)

Claire, they'll only know by U/S what kind of twins you're having. Glad you've joined us, congrats!
