she is 21 weeks along now. people are starting to tell her that she is too large to be only having two babies. even at an ob visit today (not hers, she was just along for the ride) that office thought she was abnormally large for her weeks. i measured her belly and it appears to measure 30 cm's already. do any of you know what you measured at 21-ish weeks? what are the odds of there being a secret baby hiding in there? i don't know how to post pictures so i have to wait for her to do it or you can go to the january ddc and look at 'new years bellies and bumps" (?) and check out her pictures.

30cm at 21 weeks sounds fine to me... I know that I usually measured anywhere from 8-11 weeks a head.

She could just look bigger because of the way the babies are positioned.. My babies were side by side, but I carried them mostly in front... from the back.. and the front.. I didn't really look to pregnant.. but when you say me from the side.. well.. I was HUGE!..

I would think at this point.. it would be hard to miss another baby.. I'm assuming she's had several u/s..

I never really measured more than 6wks ahead (with Danika I always measured 4-5wks behind) and I agree with Jara that baby position is a big part of it. My boys were positioned like the ying yang symbol so I never was large from the front or side just long. With that being said, I had a mom of twins tell me I was way too big to only be having two babies (thanks lady!!!) ) Has Lissy had her level 2 anatomy scan? You would think if there was a third baby hiding it would have been picked up during that scan. And it never hurts to mention it to her OB - large measurements are more likely to be from uterine fibroids or gestational diabetes causing big babies.
Keep us posted!! Does Lissy know genders yet??

yes, they are both boys. she doesn't post much - but reads all the time. i, on the other hand, love to post but try to restrain myself since they are her babies. but i am sure she would be ok with me telling you that they are boys.

At 20 weeks I looked 9 months pregnant. 30 CM''s sounds okay.

My doctors said they don't measure twins cause it's not accurate. It changes often cause of where the babies situate themselves in there. It may change the measurement of the mother's belly so the doctors don't bother usually. Some did, but it was rare I came across a doctor at that office that did measure. One of them didn't even write it down. He said he was just curious cause I was big!!

I am 22 weeks, and read that by 24 weeks your uterus is the size of a 32 week singleton pregnancy.

So if she's measuring 30, that sounds about on target to me!

Sounds right on target, and if they did an U/S early on, the chances of missing a 3rd baby are slim.
