So at my last appt, there was a bright spot on baby A's heart, so I had an u/s today with a peri tog et a closer look. While it is a very weak marker for Down's, because of my age (who knew 26 was old, I don't even turn 26 until next week), that almost halved my risk for Down syndrome. However, because Baby B has NO markers and they are identical, the peri believes the risk is still very low. However, I did get the quad screen done today because she was basing this information on my age and she could see it on my face I wasn't quite convinced on having an amnio done. So I'll have the results for that on Monday, and we'll go from there.

Other than that, both babies are measuring right on their due date and look great. The peri wants to see me for an u/s every two weeks to check fluid levels for TTTS. I said "how do I know this isn't just an opportune time for you to generate income for the hospital? More U/s means more billing the insurance, and my OB said I don't need a peri. I know we aren't getting our raises this year (I had the u/s done at my job), but my insurance isn't going to cover that" She laughed and said "well YOUR OB was MY resident at one point, so that means he is still afraid of me and will agree at all times" That sure shut me up. Thanks for reading!

Sounds like a good appt - will you do the amino if the quad screen is positive? Did you have an NT scan done? I can't believe they think 26 is old - I must be geriatric them

I can't remember - girls or boys?? and you do you have names?? Are your kiddos excited?

I am not sure if we will do the amnio. Either way we are not terminating, I guess I would have to do more research into how prepared we need to be, and if its worth having the amnio or just waiting to see if they do have Down's at birth. I didn't have an NT scan done, so really she was just basing this off my age . At least she was being honest that it's not a very good indicator.

They are boys (in fact the u/s tech made several comments on how large their boy bits are )...no names yet. My DH always comes up with these ridiculous names and expects me to take him seriously (like Pancho). The kids well, DD is devastated they aren't girls, my older DS I don't think quite understands what is happening (he's autistic) and my baby DS pushes in my belly button whenever I say "babies"

Glad you had a good appointment. One thing to remember during this time is not to question what they tell you. If you trust them, then you can expect that they're gong to do everything in the best interest of you and the babies.
