Do you have pics yet? How did they react to their time in the helmets today?

I'll take pics tomorrow! They didn't seem to mind it. They giggled the first time we put them on.

So on the 6th day they are supposed to wear them 8 hours during the day and 8 hours at night. The girls sleep 12 hours at night. He said we need to set an alarm and wake them up to take them off but didn't seem to sure of his answer. What did you guys do?

By their 1 week appt I was supposed to be up to 23 hrs so that when they went in they could check for any contact areas. And make any adjustments if needed. If at anytime you take the helmet off and there is redness that doesn't go away in an hour you should note the area for their next appt. I certainly wouldn't wake your babies to remove them, but then that is just my opinion. Did the orthotist tell you to do that or a tech? When do you go back in for your first adjustment? When is your next scan?

^^ same thing. I wouldn't wake them after 8 hours. That seems screwy. By a week A&E were wearing them all the time. Make sure you really pay attention to the red marks the entire time they wear them. We had to get a second helmet for E becasue she was getting a pressure sore. They modified the first helmet a few times, but it just wasn't fixing the sore.

I already don't like them because it makes hard to cuddle We went to hanger and got them. They told me about the red areas. They said to call that day and they will fit me in that day or the next to fix it. They are having a bit of trouble so far adjusting to the new weight of their head. They have been falling down a bunch. I will get pics up soon I hope. Abby's helmet drives me nuts because its not even.

Give them time, they will adjust. It is hard I'm sure now that they are older. I was lucky with the boys because they were 5 months old. I think Hanger only deals with Starbands. You have to watch the holes in the back and make sure they aren't leaving indentions once they do start growing. And I agree, it is hard not to cuddle with them. My biggest complaint was not being able to kiss their head, but I promise it is worth it in the end for a nice round head.

The helmets we got look just like the ones celry's girls had. Same color too. We are going to go look for some stickers this weekend. They were a little better during their 2nd hour. Didn't fall as much.
