I saw my OB for the official first OB appt today. I was thinking she would take me to a room and talk but I was sent right into the U/S room :-) I was so excited to see the machine already set up for me, I didn't even have to ask. I had a pap done too which I wasn't thrilled about but oh well. my OB said that we would do an U/S instead of trying the doppler since at this point it's hard to tell 2 apart, I was so relieved... We saw 2 babies both moving around and hearts beating away. She didn't do the measurements which I was kind of bummed about but at least I got to see 2 hearts beating. She is sending me to my maternal fetal medicine specialist again. I had to see him at the end of my last pregnancy with my son so i wasn't surprised that she was sending me already. she said that they will be able to tell me more about the twins that they can, I guess my OB doesn't "specialize" in multiples which is fine. So I will be calling the MFMS soon to make my appt for the NT scan for 2 weeks from now and will set everything up then. here's a pic.. Sorry it's SOOO blurry, I took the pic of the pic with my phone and the pic itself isn't that great anyway lol but there's 2 little gummies in there! They said they are Diamniotic/ mono something lol I can't remember the rest but they appear to be identical. My OB want's the MFMS to confirm though, she said the radiologist said the membrane is very thin so they just want to be cautious...
Congrats on the great appointment. I'm sure they told you the babies are diamniotic/monochorionic. Di aminitic means 2 sacs. Mono chorionic meaning identical.
Thank you peimum for my siggie
Dec 26 '08, BFP after 21 months thanks to acupuncture

Aug 13, '09 Arya and Eiley are born on what would have been their great grandmother's 105th birthday 365 Days in a Roe
Congrats on a great appointment and I am glad to hear they did an u/s without you asking (though it doesn't surprise me). Monochorionic means that they share a placenta. From the reading I have done monochorionic twins are pretty much always identical (I read some weird things about very odd exceptions where the blastocysts fused ... but basically if the share a placenta, I would assume they are identical) I got really curious when I found out I was having twins and was reading everything I could on it. There is a lot of really interesting info out there if you are into that

oh yeah, I've been looking EVERYTHING up about twins because I didn't really understand anything about them. A lot of things are confusing though..I am interested to see what the MFMS tells me since they know more than my OB too.
