I haven't been on in a while, cause my worst fears were realized last wk at a routine u/s that my babies had developed TTTS!! Scary! We were told to drive to Toronto right away where they were booking the laser surgery. Luckily for us it is only a 4hr drive, so we drove down Tues night, got a couple rounds of steroids as they monitored babies closely and had the surgery on Thurs. That is some amazing stuff!! They go in (as you watch) with a camera & a laser, and sever any connecting blood vessels on the placenta, they then drain off all of the excess fuid (litres of it!) off of the bigger baby, and things balance out from there.
We were going to go home Fri morn until very early in the morn my water broke (or so they thought)! So another scare, another round of ultrasounds, antibiotics, bedrest... I didn't go into labour (thank goodness - I am only 27 weeks now) within the first 24 hours so they were good enough to transport me via ambulance airplane back to my hometown hsptl. I had another round of u/s' and monitoring, and my membranes seemed to be intact! They think maybe it was leaking from the puncture wound, or from behind the membranes where they came detached during surgery.
Anyway, miraculously, after a week, I was allowed home today; both babies are healthy, & I'm hoping to keep them in there for a little while yet!
Quite a few close calls in one week, & I am just still totally amazed at what doctors are capable of!!

I learned that twin pregnancy is such a rollercoaster and it only gets more "thrilling" after the babies are born I'm so sorry you had a rough week, T&P's that you're able to carry those babies as close to term as possible! I had lots and lots of scares with pre-e, and ultimately held the babies until 38 weeks, so there is hope
