Hi Ladies I'm just popping in with a question; hope you don't mind.

I was wondering how many of you conceived your multiples due to using fertility treatments? Which ones did you use? Did you have any complications with your pregnancy?

We have a 20 month old daughter that we conceived with injectables and IUI. Dh and I are going back to our fertility specialist in December for the first time to begin treatments. My health insurance (thank God) is very good and they pay for 3 rounds of IVF. So I'm wondering if I should try injections with IUI again or just go straight to IVF. I am worried about having multiples and would prefer just one healthy baby. It's not that we wouldn't want two more-but we are concerned with the added health risks involved with carrying two (plus) babies. Oh, I'm Amanda by the way

Hi Amanda!

Personally, we were not using fertility enhancements when we conceived, but I know several ladies here were. Some of them answered as such in the recent thread here titled "Interrogation!" if you'd like to check there.

Maybe some of them will find this and chat about their experiences. Kinda slow in here though so give it all week! Are you also posting and asking in the (I don't remember the exact name) JM board for mommies on fertility treatments? I bet lots of those ladies can tell you about experiences with the two different methods.

Nope not me...our twins were spontantous...I do think it is very smart of you to consider the risks of a multiple pregnancy...it isn't all fun and games like so many people see it as...

Not me. We were on a break from MA and were just using acupuncture and herbs. You can always do IVF and only implant one egg. Of course that doesn't guarantee the embryo won't split, but you have a much lower chance of twins if you aren't impanting multiple embryos.

Good luck!

hi amanda~~

lissa did IVF and transferred 3 embies. she ended up with two little boys. when we talk about whether she is going to have another baby, her fear is twins again. not to say having twins was bad, just that it was hard to be on bed-rest from week 19 to week 32. with the probability that she would have to do that again, with toddlers to care for, is not sounding to fun to her. all things considered, she had a pretty easy pregnancy -- no major problems.

I had DD through IUI with injectables and 18 months later had spontaneous identical twin boys. I went to my RE after PP AF and he told me the chances of me getting pg on my own were slim to none. I didn't want to do treatments again because I didn't want to take the risk of multiples. 2 weeks after him telling me this I got a BFP. I guess the Lord had different plans for me.

Hi Amanda I totally respect and understand trepidation about multiples, many people don't think about that. Ours were spontaneous and very surprising so I'm not much help, I just wanted to say hi lol

I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant with twins that are the result of Follistim and IUI.
