Ok 1st off I can't believe I'm posting over here. I've been a member of JM since May 2009 and we have been ttc since June 2008.

So for those that don't know me here is a quick up date on my story.
I'm Rebecca(35) DH is Maurice (36) and we are from Ireland. We started ttc before our wedding and that is where this amazing heartbreaking and now joyful story starts.
We got married on the Island of Malta with 60 guests.
After a while of bfn's I went to the Dr because of my age I didn't want to waste to much time. DH had a SA which was perfect so it was my turn to be tested. I had my 1st Lap in September 2009 where they found a lot of Endo and my left tube was very badly twisted and damaged beyond repair so I was booked in for 2nd Lap on our 1st wedding anniversary October 8th. they removed my left tube and as much Endo as they could and then I was on a menopause injection for a few months while I recovered and before IUI's started, But while I had my Lap I also had a smear test done.
this was the start of a 7 month Cancer scare where I had 3 colposcopies and 2 Leeps. But was given the all clear. and was told to wait again before IUI.
Anyway to make a long story short. I had 2 IUI's with injections and 6 clomid cycles and 2 injection cycles. So it was the big move to IVF.
Here is a link to my IVF cycle http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f1...ested-pg6.html (My IVF cycle (tested on pg6))

So when I tested I couldn't look at the test so I asked DH to look I wanted to surprise him in a reaklly cute way but my nerves got the best of me. He kept saying I think it's 2 lines so I grabbed it and OMG t lines he kept saying are you sure, are you sure so I did another test then another and another. OMG a :fbp:

At 6 weeks I went into hospital with bad pain I was so scared I thought I was losing the our baby.

Well all is ok. The pain was from enlarged ovary on my right side. She said it would go away with time but if it got bad to come back in. The Dr this morning was so so nice.
She did the scan and said I was measuring at 6 weeks 2 days.
Then she said do you want to listen to the heartbeat. OMG I starting crying my eyes when I heard it and saw it flicking away on the screen. She then said do you want to hear the 2nd heart. I was finished I was crying so much. Two beautiful heartbeats.

She said everything looked great and that they were not identical twins as they each have there own sac.
So that's it girls I'm having TWINS ♥ ♥

I've watched your TTC journey for the last few years, and I couldn't be happier for you. I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant with twins from MA.

Congratulations and welcome! Just so you are aware, there is still a small chance your twins are identical if the embryo split in the first day. You won't know for sure prior to delivery unless they're different sexes or you have an amnio.

Congrats and welcome! and ditto what she said above. Identicals that split within the first 3-4 days will look just like fraternal twins. I got very interested in twins when I found out I was pregnant with them. The wikipedia page on twins (Twin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) seems like a basic place to start, but I got a great foundation there. They also had a great chart to explain the different things that happened depending on how many days after fertilization identical twins split. Turns out mine are fraternal, but until I knew they were b/g I was really wondering They say about 25% of identical twins have separate sacs and placentas.

Welcome and congrats. And ditto the others. They can't say for sure that they aren't identical until you first find out the sex, if they are b/g then you know for sure. If they are b/b or g/g then once they type their blood if they are different then you will know for sure. If they are the same then you can do DNA testing. I have b/b twins who were in their own sacs and had their own placentas. I did DNA testing after they were born and they are identical. It just depends on when the end splits.

This breaks it down too. Twin pregnancy - identical and fraternal twins - single fertilized egg splits - two sperm cells fertilize two eggs - Baby2see.com

Congrats and welcome.

There is a higher chance of ID twins with IVF than there is with the rest of the population. It's still not high, but those twins could be ID, you never know.
