We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday. It was at a big hospital in Madison so that a tech specific to fetal u/s could do it, then i met with a MFM Dr to go over the u/s results. Everything looks great. They are still girls i was a little worried, and the tech this time didn't get a great look either, but she said that girls would be her guess too. They are both growing the same (biggest worry with babies in the same placenta) and weigh 12 oz each.

The Dr did make me a little worried just b/c he said he reccomends u/s every 2 weeks from here on out and scheduled me for another at their clinic. He said there was nothing wrong, it was just to make sure the anatamy was ok and to monitor them since twins are smaller then normal singletons at this gestation and its harder to measure everything. My dr said at 30 weeks we would evaluate whether to move the u/s from monthly to bi-monthly. So IDK if the new Dr is just being cautious or if my Dr is over-confident.

any thoughts on that from BTDT moms? how often was your monitoring/ultrasounds?

I have an appt with my Dr next tuesday, so we'll discuss it more then. At my scale at home I'm up about 10lbs - lets hope christmas sweets dont pack on any more weight before next tuesday!

Glad to hear it was a good appt! My u/s were monthly, but I am wondering if they are being more cautious with you because yours share a placenta?

my little ones had ultrasounds every two weeks and then weekly after about 30 weeks. Once the babies start weighing pounds and not just oz then they wont worry so much about their weight. they watched mine very close because they had a fused placenta and a weight difference. Both turned out healthy and happy. Today, at 11 weeks, ari is almost 2 pounds more then nadine. She is just a petite princess

once i hit 30 weeks i had them monitered every week for growth, movment, breathing....

lots and lots of ulrasounds.
