So before I start, let me just say that I *KNOW* that it is irrational and improbable that I'm carrying twins but I just simply can't shake the feeling. I have had two ultrasounds, both by the same tech at the same crappy xray place. One at 6 weeks, one at 17 weeks. Ok so let me tell you why I *feel* there might be another one hiding in there....
This pregnancy has been so completely different than my other three. I was sicker than ever before, for longer than ever before (about 10 weeks of m/s). The exhaustion was intense, again, never had it like that with the other three. And the round ligament pain is ridiculous, I have an "attack" probably 4 times a week. I lost ten pounds in the first trimester, again completely the opposite of my first 3 pregnancies where I gained 15 pounds by then. I've had wicked strong cravings and aversions, again different than the other three pregnancies. And now I'm measuring 6 cm big on fundal height where I had been measuring right on. My 3 year old daughter in the beginning kept telling me there were two babies in my belly, a girl baby and a boy baby. Another thing that makes me really wonder is the wedding ring test. I know its an "old wives tale" but I have done it on at least 30 different people and it has correctly told the order of all of their children including miscarriages/still births and predicted the genders for their current pregnancies and future babies. I have done it on myself a million times and it ALWAYS says boy/girl twins. It gets all the other children correct, with pauses in between each of them and then this one is always boy then without stopping switches immediately to girl. Then stops completely to indicate we are done having kids (which we are, hubby had a vasectomy last month) The last ultrasound we had, she went pretty fast and only let me see the screen for about a minute but when she did it, i thought i saw the baby suddenly be facing the complete opposite direction, like in profile view, the head was to the left then within 1 second with her slightly moving the want, the head was suddenly to the right. She said..baby flipped and i was thinking "that was crazy fast to flip to the complete opposite direction AND me not feel anything when I have been consistently feeling movement since 11 weeks." And then last night I felt really distinct movement in the lower left near my c/section scar and then immediately after in the upper right under my ribs. If its not twins, baby is either crazy active or long or something. Anyhow, I was just wondering what you ladies think? Am i totally nuts? I have appt with Monday and I think I am going to ask for an ultrasound there at the hospital instead of at the xray place I have gone twice now.
ETA - I don't know about twins in family history as my mother is adopted. Also, I was breastfeeding at the time of pregnancy and she randomly and suddenly weaned literally the day I ovulated. I am quite overweight and this is my fourth pregnancy. Those are the only "risk factors" I can think of.

i hope some of the gals here can help you. i have twin grandsons but we knew it at 4 weeks -- saw each on u/s. i can certainly see why you are concerned. i know that a few of the gals here did not find the other baby till about 20 weeks along so it is possible. i hope you will post an update after your visit to the dr.

I would think at 17 weeks it would be VERY apparent even to the sloppiest u/s tech, but I suppose stranger things have happened. I didn't have anything to compare my twins too and didn't feel movement at all until well after 17 weeks, so I don't have any good advice on your symptoms ....

At 17 weeks, there was NO way we could have missed my twins...u/s tech kept having to go back to each baby's head to see which was which...following the spine down to each appendage. By about 16 weeks it was so crowded inside that "whose arm is that?" Seemed to be a common question at my u/s's...
That being said, I would highly doubt you have one hiding in there...at 4-12 weeks I could understand possibly missing one, but not now...
I agree with the other ladies...unless your u/s tech was completely out to lunch, she would have noticed 2 babies. Especially if one is a boy and one is a girl...you'd think the tech would notice the disappearing penis
It doesn't hurt to ask if you want another u/s, though, just to put your mind at ease.
