Hi ladies,

I'm now over 9 weeks into my pgcy, and this is the longest pregnancy I've ever had! So I'm wondering, why is my belly so big already at 9 weeks? I can't wear my regular clothes anymore, only stretchy sweats. Is it water retention, or am I just getting chubby from eating like a horse all the time? I've gained 5 lbs in the past 4 weeks, all in front I think. It can't be the babies, I know they're only the size of a grape! Is this normal?

Thanks for the advice for the new mommy

One of the clues that I was having twins should have been how big I was getting so fast. My bf kept commenting on how I showed so early and how my belly was just big already. Of course we still didn't figure out it was twins until the ultrasound!

I was already in maternity pants at 8 or 9 weeks! So it's completely normal and that was with twins..

I was big early with two, but I didn't know I was having twins yet at 9 weeks. I just thought it was because it was my third pregnancy and that I was in my 30's. I think your body may be just making space, as it has a loooooong way to go! Not only are there babies growing in there, your babies have umbilical cords, placentas, amneotic sacs, and your organs may just be doing some shifting, too, to get ready. HTH!

Hi Lisa,

I just wanted to jump online to see how you are doing. Umm....I think you have a GREAT reason for getting big. You have FOUR in there. I am sure your uterus is expanding (early) to accomodate four babies. That is very very very very NORMAL.

Hugs to you!

With my twin pregnancy, I was in maternity clothes by 6 weeks and people were already asking when I was due!

Hey Lisa! I was in maternity clothes by 8-9 weeks. They were so much more comfy than regular clothes. I couldn't stand to have anything tight on my belly.

ETA ~ You ARE carrying quads so it is very possible to have a bump this early on. There are 4 rather than 1 & need more room.

It's normal for most people.. I didn't really blow up until the end though. I wore most of my pre pregnancy jeans until the day the babes were born.

Either way, it's a wonderful excuse to have a huge belly, congrats!
