We've made it through 3 interviews/evaluations and both boys qualify for speech therapy! They will get 90 minutes to 2 hours once a week with a speech therapist. They come to the house and it is provided by the state! They are not behind cognitively at all according to 4 different educators. We were also told last week that getting them into a Mother's Day Out or pre-school program would be a good idea. I am SO relieved to know that it is simply a speech delay!
My boys are speech delayed too, however my city doesn't offer any services till age 3. My oldest son was speech delayed also so we are just doing all the things we did with him till this sept when they boys will start speech preschool.
Congrats, you will be amazed how fast they start talking.
