I an 10.5 weeks preggers with twins and I have already gained 5 lbs. I dont overeat in fact I only eat about 1500 calories a day . My belly is big and my pants just barley button. This is my second pregnancy too could that be a big factor or do you just think its the two babies and my uterus growing. I dont want to over gain I want to be healthy.

Just wondering if this is normal ?

It's totally normal. I wasn't gaining weight till about 14 weeks, but I was having pant trouble by week 10.

I was already wearing maternity pants around 8-9 weeks and as far as the weigh gain I can't help you there. I'm on the fluffy side and I never really gain much weight.

Well this was me at 10.3 weeks.

So Id say its safe to say its a twin thing.. and just how your body react. Remember everyone's uterus is there own and reacts to pregnancy differently. Some just show sooner.

I was already noticeably pregnant at 8 weeks and I had gained a little weight at that time. Not much though. ...about 4 pounds at the time.

Every body is different the way it reacts to things. If you can, stay active and that may help you maintain the weight you want. this is not the time to diet, but if you normally eat junk food and other bad things, maybe try to eat more fruits and vegetables....not that the occasional MacDonald's burger is going to harm you. Also, drink a lot of water. That helped me maintain my weight the best (kept me from gaining too much, partly because it fills me up, but also because water is great for loosing weight in general). Water helps your metabolism quicken up and also can lower the amount of bloat you may gain from the pregnancy itself.

Another thing you can do is ask your doctor what is the healthy amount of weight to gain per week or per month, so at least you can find a way to watch the pounds and monitor your progress.

It's totally normal with multiples. I've been very much ahead of schedule! At 8 weeks I was starting to not fit into any of my pants anymore. Here is my 10 week belly pic, normally my belly is completely flat:

I wouldn't worry about gaining too much weight, because my doctor says that with multiples, it's almost impossible to gain enough!

Here are a few of my begining belly shots..

Please keep in mind that 1500 calories might not be enough for twins... Your splitting everything you eat and the babies take everything they need and leave you whats left...

I have been reading and think I need to up my calorie intake for sure. I do go to the gym about 4 -5 days a week too so I think my body is just full of water and bloat. Thanks for all the pictures, makes me realize that my belly is normal. Im usually a small person im 4'10" and usually 102 lbs. Now Im aout 107 so I guess 5 lbs on my is going to pop me out pretty fast.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYBODY

Gaining with twins is normal, it's going to happen! (Actually, this will be a QOTD, thanks for the idea!)

I remember I was in maternity clothes by my 12th week. I was so depressed and CRIED!
