Has there been a history of CHD in your family or is your baby the first?

Not the we knew of beforehand. However at some stage MIL told DH about a relative who had a baby die soon after birth from heart problems. Guess she didn't think it was important to tell us about till it happened to us.

No but Luke's CHD were most likely due to him having Down syndrome.

Not of what she has, but yes a history of heart issues are in the family.

My mother has MVP, her father does also. My mom also has ticocardia *So* as does her mother. My great-grandmother (mom's mom) was in congestive heart failure and had other heart issues but am unsure the specifics. My BIL had/has a innocent murmur. He went in one year for a sports physical and they haven't heard it since.
DD has aortic stenosis and her cardiologist said it is genetic. I'm wondering what *I* have.

I had an older brother who had a heart condition and he died when he was still a child (due to a whole lot of medical issues that weren't treated properly at the time). But my son's CHD is most likely due to his genetic condition (he has 22q deletion).

We do not have a history. Jack's heart condition is most likely related to a placental abruption in early pregnancy. His placenta never fully recovered and was abnormally small and poorly nourished at birth, so he just wasn't growing to his potential in utero. Although no one ever detected that! (which is a whole other issue)

Not as far as we know. My father had an innocent flow murmur as a child, but it went away. DH's mother left when he was 3 and he doesn't know her. In turn, we don't know half of his medical history..so it could be a possibility.

We aren't sure. My grandmother's mother had a weak heart, but we don't know if that was congenital or not, she also had a stillbirth with twins and the doctor said that was a heart issue, but again there wasn't the technology to find out.
