Well, as some of you already know (from stalking my facebook) Nicola arrived yesterday at 8:46pm! She was out 21 minutes after they broke my water. Natural childbirth rocks! I was in the shower 10 minutes after she was born while they checked her out in the NICU. She is doing awesome! Nursing like a champ! She is beautiful! I don't have wifi in my new room. The recovery floor is very boring. I am in the resorce library right now. Facebook is blocked, so I can't get into that to update myself, but I will be taking my laptop down to the NICU, I think I might be able to pick up the wifi in there. If I can, I have lots of pictures to share
I have to confirm the weight, because they had told my friend she was 6lb 1oz, but on her birth card, it says she was 3000 grams, which converts to 6lb 10oz. a 9 oz difference! They have not measured her length yet, but should have that done when I get back to her for the next feeding. She had her ultrasound today, and I am still waiting to her from the cardiologist. I will update again when I know more.
We got the results from Nicola's echo. Things do not seem to have changed at all. They mentioned that there is also a really loud murmur. The cardiologist said they will reassess in a year. That seems like a long time, considering we were originally told she would need to be seen at least every 6 months. The cardiologist that I met back in November, the one that is supposed to be her cardiologist, is out of town right now. So there is some old man calling the shots. I requested to speak to another pedi-cardiologist, just to get some reassurance.
Here are a couple pics!
