I'm looking at my family history of heart issues and really wondering what I have.

My dad's side of the family to my knowledge has no issues but they do not discuss health issues or anything in that nature. Although my dad does have high blood pressure. My grandfather did have a stroke but it was related to smoking, and I do not smoke.

On my mom's side its every one almost!
My mom has MVP and ticocardia *sp*
My grandma (mom's mom) has ticocardia and something else
My great-grandma (Grandma's mom) was in congestive heart failure for YEARS among other issues
My grandpa (mom's dad) has MVP and a few other minor stuff
My cousin (mom's brother's daughter) has been diagnosed with heart palpations
*sp*
My great-grandma's first husband died of a heart attack (unknown cause, but from my understand he did have some other heart issues).
My grandpa's parents I don't know anything about but considering genetics, and that my daughter has heart issues I'm worried about what I might have. I've talked to my PCP and OBGYN and nobody sees any reason to be concerned even given genetics. They figure, if they haven't caught anything by now nothing is wrong.

My most recent blood tests did say I have high cholesterol but I am also overweight (trying to loss weight) which they say is the cause. Even when I've asked DD's cardiologist about the genetic he hasn't shown any significant concern and if I'm worried to talk to my doctor. BUT in the same breath says DD's condition is genetic. The only issue on DH's side of the family is a possible mummer in BIL it disappeared as quickly as they noticed it.

Would you be making an appt with the cardiologist? I think I need a refereal and so far my doc's think I'm just crazy.

I would explain to them that your daughter's cardiologist says it's genetic & you want evaluated. If it's a concern, have them check it out. You definitely have a strong family history of cardiac issues.

My Dad & his mother have both had cardiac by-pass surgery.
No one had/has CHD that i am aware of.
