Well, I thought that I had updated you guys. Sorry, I am not online very much since Nicola was born. Anyway. We have been home now for about a week and a half. She was born on April 6th, and we spent 9 days in the NICU. The ultrasound on her heart showed that the aortic stenosis had dilated (the cardiologist had told us that this could not happen). When I actually got to speak to him, he explained that he is still baffled as to how it could have fixed itself, since it showed up in three fetal echos... but we wont complain that a miricle happened! Nicola does have an enlarged aortic valve and a heart murmur. They will reassess in 6 months, but based on what they saw in the echo, they don't think she will need surgery at all! I am so happy! I am beyond words! We are not totally out in the clear, but things are looking good! So, in September, we will have another echo, and find out if there has been any charge to the aortic valve, and also listen to see if her murmur has gotten smaller.

I'm glad she's doing well. No surgery is always nice!

O/T I didn't realize you could detect aortic stenosis via ultrasound while pregnant. Thats what my DD has, and after countless ultrasounds b/c they couldn't detect her HB, nobody noticed anything "off" about her heart function or anything for that matter. I've always wondered who we should see/talk to, in order to make sure some of the issues during her birth (Very minor, but no induction or epi for me) don't happen again.
