I was just wondering if anyone else here has had to deal with a child with high cholesterol. It runs in my family...but I was still shocked to find out my 4 yr old LDL level is 8.1 (us reading around 340). In the next few months she has to undergo quite a few tests for checking her arties etc.
I was told mine is slightly high and I just need to loss weight. If only it was that easy (I've lost 5 pounds depending on the time of month! I need to loss about 15). Of course I can't remember the exact level, they didn't perscribe any special diet or exercise program or anything like that. We do follow general heart healthy diet - limit sweets/soda/junk, whole grains, follow the food pyramid, etc. Of course DD has a whole different issue!
