Ladies, since Marsi had a PDA, how likely is it for a future child to have a heart condition? I found out that we are expecting our second child (hopefully). So, now I am not only worried about pregnancy loss (I have lost 6) I am also worried about having another precious heart baby.
Its hard to say, since so many heart conditions remained undiagnosed there just hasn't been enough time to say if there is a genetic link or not. I know that in my case, I am one of 3 and the only one with heart problems. My cardiologist explained to me that a lot of his patients that are diagnosed are much older, and some not until something happens, that doesn't mean they didn't have the problem but they were clueless. I think our grandchildren will have a much better picture as to how much genetics is involved.
What is a PDA?
Also, since there is a history, you shouldn't have a problem getting a referral for what ever tests you need. DS's pediatrician went so far as to let me pick where she would send the referral to since I had had OHS.
Thank you *Kiliki* for once again doing such amazing work on a siggie
