That's a good question!!! We have always put the boys in the car with us and just gone places so they are pretty "up" for anything. I think the hardest part of traveling with kids is the cost! There isn't a restaurant, snack, store that they don't want to go into to. I guess another thing is hotels. We have the perfect place in MB, but to find a hotel that is comfortable for the five of us is hard sometimes. (Two rooms, etc.)
I'd have to say that things (at Lexi's age now- 2.5) are a bit more "structured" .. she still naps, so mid-day we always have to go back to a hotel for a few hours. And it's always a challenge for me.. because I have to find hotels with a room inside of a room! (like.. a suite).. because she will NOT sleep if we're there, and she goes to bed early (7:30pm). We need to have a 2 rooms (more like a hotel room that has a living room (where she sleeps in her pack n play) and a bedroom with a closed door (for us). Those are always more expensive. And things just have to be more "scheduled".. I mean, when we're on vacation we're not as IN our routine.. but still.. if she doesn't eat by 6, she's famished. And when we travel alone, we just eat when we eat.. 8-9pm, whatever.
But, I still love to travel with her and wouldn't trade it for anything. I imagine as she ages that all gets easier.
since mostly ours is international travel we have to consider food likes, baby food and needs... time differences is big and cultural differences. Kids can do here and think nothing of, if they do other places especially in public places it is considered taboo... but always a learning experience and worth it in the end
Thank you Heather(hettyhoo) for my beautiful siggy
