Read the TSA website and understand the whole 3oz liquids and gels thing in carry ons. And then it says exceptions are made in reasonable amount for baby formula and food. I'll be bringing powdered formula and just buy water once I'm thru, but the baby food purees, can I fill up another quart sized bag? SHOULD they be in a plastic bag?
I would put them in a ziploc baggie of whatever size you need so they can easily inspect them. They may make you open one and take a taste of it. I've heard of that happening, but have never known anyone it has happened to. As far as what constitutes a reasonable amount, I would take the bare essentials that you need, being fully prepared to have to throw a few out if they think you have more than a "reasonable" amount, whatever that is.
