My DP lives on a barge. It was SO COOL in the summer - but it looks like such a struggle in this weather, makes me very appreciative of being in a warm house at this time of the year. Of course, DP comes to stay here much more regularly at this time of year so he can have a warm bath and a cosy bed sometimes etc.
I've never known anyone to live in those types of places. The closest I've ever come to knowing someone living in an alternative type of place was when my parents had to sell their old house and move but hadn't found the right house to purchase in their new location so they lived out of their camper for about 6 months at a campground. I went to visit them for a weekend and I have to say it was cramped!
I guess I know lots of people who live places like that.
Sharron- I believe what you guys call a Caravan, we call an RV or camper.
My former in-laws have lived on a sail boat for years & we have several other friends who live on them year round. My Grandpa (who passed away yesterday) lived in and RV for the last 7 years. When we visited Amsterdam the first time we meet a wonderful couple who live on a "house boat" but to us it looked more like a floating mobile home!
