We're kicking around the idea of going to Virginia Beach over spring break (first week in April) and we're looking for hotel suggestions. We want something family friendly, oceanfront/very close to the beach- within a short walking distance, and not extremely expensive.

We're also open to the idea of a beach rental, but so far I haven't found anything small... everything has been for larger groups. If you have any rental suggestions, that would be great too. Nothing bigger than a 2 bedroom, but we could even work with a 1 bdrm/studio because our girls are so young. We don't really NEED a bunch of space. I'd prefer to have a pool (either shared or private).

Hi Erica! The one time I went we didn't stay on the beach...can't remember what hotel we were at either (we weren't given a choice on where to stay as we were there for DH's work). I did want to recommend the Greek Restaurant on the boardwalk though. You can eat outside with a view of the beach/ocean and the food was fabulous!

Lurking but I currently live in the next city over from Va Bch so....
Ft Story rents out cabins, its not on the ocean front but it is RIGHT along the water. We've gone there to see my husband's boat leave and we have seen Dolphins come up close to shore (this was in May)
There are a TON of options along the Ocean Front but Chixs beach is also nice and less crowded.
